The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Celebrates the Birth
of Famed Louisiana Governor and Frequent Hotel Guest
Huey P. Long with a One-Night Performance of "The Kingfish
"

NEW ORLEANS - August 15, 2013 - The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, will step back in time to an era of colorful, raucous Louisiana politics when it presents "The Kingfish," starring Spud McConnell in the one-man depiction of the life and times of famed Louisiana Gov. Huey P. Long, on Friday, Aug. 30.

"We wanted to celebrate the 120th birthday of our famed Governor Long, who called The Roosevelt home," said Tod Chambers, general manager of the historic hotel. "We thought this was the perfect occasion".

Doors to the world-famous Blue Room open at 6:30 p.m., with the performance at 7:30 p.m.

McConnell has received national acclaim for his on-stage portrayals of legendary Louisiana politicians and eccentrics, including Long ("The Kingfish"), brother Earl K. Long ("Earl Long in Purgatory") and Ignatius J. Riley ("A Confederacy of Dunces"). His career also has taken him to Hollywood for three seasons on ABC's hit television show "Roseanne". In addition, he can be heard weekdays on The Spud Show on WWL 870 AM.

General admission for the show is $65 per person, and VIP preferred seating is available for $80, excluding tax. Reservations are available from The Roosevelt at +1 (504) 335-3138. Complimentary valet parking is available for those who attend the show.  The Roosevelt is located at 123 Baronne St. New Orleans, LA.
