The SAENGER THEATRE and LIVE NATION welcomes CHRIS TUCKER

New Orleans, September 9, 2013 - Chris Tucker, best known for his role of Detective James Carter in the "Rush Hour" film series, brings his stand-up comedy tour to the Saenger Theatre on Friday, November 15.  Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, September 13 at noon.

Chris Tucker's stand-up comedy tour has received rave reviews all over the world.  He recently appeared in the Oscar nominated film "Silver Lining Playbook" with Robert DeNiro, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. He first came to prominence in the 1995 film "Friday" alongside Ice Cub.  Next he co-starred and executive produced "Money Talks" with Charlie Sheen and appeared in Luc Besson's "The Fifth Element" before beginning work on the highly commercially successful "Rush Hour" films. In 2006 he negotiated an unprecedented $25 million salary to appear in "Rush Hour 3" which at the time made him the highest paid actor in Hollywood. Tucker is also a humanitarian and spends much of his spare time traveling and working with his foundation.

Tickets for Chris Tucker go on sale Friday, September 13. They will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000.  The box office at the Saenger Theatre is still under construction, but tickets for all Saenger Theatre shows may be purchased at the Mahalia Jackson Theater box office at 1419 Basin Street Mon-Fri 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

About The Saenger Theatre:
Originally built in 1927, the Saenger Theatre was designed to reflect a magnificent 15th century Italian courtyard and gardens, with a starlit evening sky ceiling, arched surroundings, statuary, columns and decorative moldings. In January 2012, the City of New Orleans, Canal Street Development Corporation (CSDC) and ACE Theatrical Group formed a public-private partnership to carry out a $52 million restoration project after the iconic theatre was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina. The Saenger Theatre will reopen in fall 2013, authentically restored to the finest level of detail, with state-of-the-art technological improvements and updated first-class amenities. The theatre will host a wide variety of performing arts attractions including live theater, comedy shows and musical acts. The Saenger Theatre is located at the corner of Canal and North Rampart streets in downtown New Orleans and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
