Society of Petroleum Engineers' Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition Convenes in New Orleans September 30 - October 2


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - September 25, 2013

WHAT

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) will host their Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) September 30 - October 2 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. This year's conference will be comprised of thousands of the petroleum industry's exploration and production (E&P) professionals from all over the world, including engineers, operators, scientists, managers and executives. The accompanying 150,000 sq. ft. exhibition will be the largest in ATCE's 89-year history. More than 500 companies from 17 countries will showcase the latest in E&P equipment and technologies. Exhibitors include multinational companies including Baker Hughes, Chevron, Conoco Phillips, FMC Technologies, Halliburton, Kuwait Oil Company, PEMEX, PETRONAS, Saudi Aramco, Schlumberger, Statoil and Weatherford. ATCE is one of the leading technical conferences in the E&P industry.

The opening general session, "Deepwater Exploration and Developments - Challenging the Limits," which begins Monday, September 30 at 10 a.m., features a panel of industry experts who will discuss challenges and opportunities associated with deepwater.

SPE is the largest single-member organization dedicated to the upstream sector of the petroleum industry. The society, which includes more than 110,000 members in 141 countries, assists the industry in overcoming challenges through its mission to collect, disseminate and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources, and related technologies for the public benefit.

New Orleans last hosted the ATCE conference in 2009, and this year's conference is expected to generate $12.9 million in economic impact for the city.
