Kristin Diable to headline Concerts in the Courtyard in October

WHO:             The Historic New Orleans Collection

WHAT:           Concerts in the Courtyard featuring Kristin Diable and cocktails provided by Bayou Rum

WHEN:           Friday, Oct. 18, Doors open at 5:30 p.m. • Music from 6-8 p.m.

WHERE: The Historic New Orleans Collection, 533 Royal St., in the French Quarter               

HOW: Admission is $10, free for THNOC members,* and includes three complimentary beverages.
Guests must be 21 or older to enter.
*Memberships begin at $35 per year.

WHY: Now in its sixth year, The Historic New Orleans Collection's Concerts in the Courtyard offers a fun, casual way to kick off the weekend with live outdoor performances by Louisiana musicians. The fall series continues Friday, Oct. 18, with a performance by local singer/songwriter Kristin Diable and cocktails provided by Bayou Rum

Kristin Diable is bringing her sultry sound back to New Orleans after a summer touring throughout Europe. A veteran of French Quarter Festival's BMI Singer/Songwriter Stage (held in THNOC's courtyard), Diable's sound has been praised as "Dusty Springfield sass couched in Norah Jones seduction" by the Times-Picayune. Her album "Kristin Diable and the City" (Speakeasy Records) was named one of the five best local albums of 2012. For the October concert, she comes armed with fresh songs and a new band line-up featuring Charles Lumar (bass and vocals), Chris Davis (drums) and Chris Adkins (guitar and vocals).

Also at the October concert, Bayou Rum will provide two cocktails-the Bayou Classic (Spiced Bayou Rum, Lillet Blanc, Triple Sec, lemon juice and orange-blossom water) and the Bayou Breeze (Silver Bayou Rum , Triple Sec, sweet and sour and Sprite with a raspberry schnapps float). Bayou Rum is handmade using traditional methods with state-of-the-art technology. Located in Lacassine, La., Bayou Rum is the largest privately owned rum distiller in the United States. 

Admission to each show in the fall series is $10, free for THNOC members, and includes three complimentary beverages. All shows are held at 533 Royal St., and The Collection's current exhibition and gift shop are open for extended hours during the concerts. Guests must be 21 or older to enter. Capacity is limited, and the event is designed for a standing audience. Outside chairs, food and beverages are not permitted on the premises.
