Saturday, November 16, 2013 - 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

1600-1700 Blocks of Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The O.C. Haley Boulevard Merchants and Business Association is proud to announce the 7th Annual Central City Festival-Make a Joyful Noise.  The annual fete takes place Saturday, November 16, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the 1600 and 1700 blocks of Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard.  Festival goers will move to the rhythms of a range of music from bounce to secondline, and from jazz to Latin beats.  The festival is free and open to the public.

This year's headliner is "New Orleans Cultural Ambassador" Irvin Mayfield along with his New Orleans Jazz Orchestra Revue, no doubt bringing on exciting lyrical and instrumental surprises. Also firing up the stage will be "Latin King" Fredy Omar, the colorful Creole Wild West Mardi Indians, Lucky Lou with a youth bounce competition, Ashé's Sistahs Making a Change and the Kuumba Institute kids. Get your secondline on with The Treme Brass Band and the Black Men of Labor.  Moreover, in memory of two giants in Central City-Bishop Robert C. Blakes Sr. and Pastor John C. Raphael Jr.-a musical memorial tribute will be presented by the choirs from New Home Family Worship Center and New Hope Baptist Church.

Central City Festival also includes a health fair, a children's area, door prizes, food and crafts vendors. Join us as we foresee a thrilling 7th year for this fun-filled neighborhood festival.

Meanwhile, you may have heard the buzz about the Boulevard.  The many years of efforts are now bearing fruit, from the early Civil Rights leaders who brought the great promise of the United States to African Americans long disenfranchised.  Now we are fast-forwarding to the present with founding members of the O.C. Haley Boulevard Merchants and Business Association:  Ashé Cultural Arts Center, Gulf Coast Housing Partnership, Living Witness, the Central City Partnership and Café Reconcile.  We're growing rapidly!

Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard is a Louisiana State Main Street and Certified Louisiana Cultural Products District. The O. C. Haley Boulevard Merchants and Business Association /Main Street Initiative is dedicated to cultivating economic sustainability throughout the organization's service area, from St. Charles Avenue to Phillip Street, from Simon Bolivar to the Expressway.

The festival would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and partners: JP Morgan Chase Foundation, Entergy Charitable Foundation, WDSU-TV, Richards Disposal, Ashé Cultural Arts Center, Café Reconcile, NOLA.tv, Gulf Coast Housing Partnership, Louisiana Office of the Lieutenant Governor and Main Street Division, Alembic Community Development, Central City Renaissance Alliance, New Orleans Musicians Gig Fund, Southern Eagle, Coca-Cola, Latter & Blum Realtors, The Boulevard Magazine, APEX Youth Center; and Latoya Cantrell, Councilwoman, District B.

Vending opportunities are still available: Call 504.528.1806 or stop by Ashé Cultural Arts Center, 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. for an application.  Applications are also available online at http://bit.ly/CentralCityFest2013.
