New Orleans, November 10, 2013 - The New Orleans Hotel Collection has announced a special package to commemorate the famous "Battle of New Orleans." The Battle of New Orleans was fought just downriver from the city on January 8, 1815 and served to confirm an important victory against a vastly superior force for the United States in the War of 1812.

The Andrew Jackson Premium Overnight Package from the seven fine hotels of the New Orleans Hotel Collection offers guests a step back in time to the period of the battle.   Available on the dates of January 9,10,11,12, 2014, the three night stay includes:

This five-course candlelight dinner, served with wine, will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 6:30 pm and is open to individual guests .

Price: $129 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuities

Dinner reservations can be made online at http://1812.eventbrite.com. For inquiries or phone reservation, please contact Tracy at (504) 200-3113.

Throughout the US, groups are recreating events from the period of the War of 1812 as part of the Bicentennial celebrations. The War of 1812 is often referred to as the "War that Forged a Nation," or "America's second War of Independence." Bicentennial commemorations and activities will continue through till the Bicentennial of the Battle of New Orleans (January 8, 2015.)
