Robert Reso Named Director of New Business Development for the
New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau

Reso to lead New Business Development team aimed at generating convention and meeting business from new channels and managing market prospects

NEW ORLEANS - November 25, 2013 - The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce Robert Reso, a 25-year sales and marketing industry expert, as the new director of new business development. He will report to Cara Banasch, VP of convention sales and strategies, and lead a new business development team.

Reso, who served as director of group sales for the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, brings a great amount of experience in both the sales and marketing sectors of the convention industry. His involvement in the hotels, management and sales trade has advanced him through to numerous leadership positions during his 25-year tenure with Hilton including director of sales and marketing for Doubletree Lakeside and assistant general manager for Embassy Suites New Orleans.

Reso began his hospitality career in food & beverage before moving into convention services. His familiarities added value to his group clients through collaboration to gain an understanding of the essentials steps to accomplish the goals established. Reso is a member of the Christian Brothers School Board of Trustees and previously served as president and VP of Activities for the Christian Brothers School Alumni Association.

Reso will direct new business initiatives from new channels, which will identify and convert groups in new markets. His deep background in business marketing and ability to effectively oversee diverse markets made him the perfect candidate to lead the team into new rewarding business engagements for the CVB and the city of New Orleans.

"Rob brings experience from a variety of business sectors along with the capability to bring in new business opportunities," stated Stephen Perry CEO and President of the New Orleans CVB. "With the addition of our new business development team, we anticipate major growth in the creation of jobs, economic impact and attracting prospective clients to utilize New Orleans for their meetings and conventions in the future."

"Our new business development team is integral to our growth strategy moving forward," said Banasch. We appreciate all those clients who have been loyal to the city and we are always going to take great care of them but we need to attract additional business from the industries and segments that have potential to create positive impact for our partners."

The New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau is a nationally accredited, 1,100-member destination marketing organization and the largest and most successful private economic development corporation in Louisiana. The CVB and its members influence thousands of decision-makers and millions of visitors to choose New Orleans through direct sales, marketing, public relations, branding and visitor services at our New Orleans headquarters and offices in Washington D.C., New York, Chicago and five foreign countries.
