Remodel At Courtyard New Orleans Downtown Mixes A Bit Of Past With A Taste For Future

Recent renovations to guest rooms includes new carpet, sofas, wallpaper, bedding

New Orleans, LA - The Courtyard New Orleans Downtown/Convention Center is sugar and spice and everything nice after a recent renovation project that embraces the Big Easy hotel's past while solidifying a bright and productive future.

One of the premier hotels near the New Orleans Convention Center and Superdome, the Courtyard was once a sugar and molasses factory. While the new guest rooms boast a modern feel with Marriott's platinum design package, the lobby, which was reimagined last year, reveals the building's historical significance by showing off exposed bricks and beams.

"I'm really excited about the platinum design package and how our guests will react to their new, deluxe accommodations," said General Manager Alli Hayward. "The design of our fresh hotel is totally modern but allows the history of our property to shine."

All of the 192 rooms and 10 suites now feature new wallpaper, carpets, sofas, chairs and curtains. Visitors can unwind in pure comfort on new, thicker mattresses topped with crisp linens, custom comforters and plenty of fluffy pillows. Whether working or relaxing, guests will appreciate complimentary, in-room wireless Internet access and 26-inch flat-screen televisions with HBO, ESPN, CNN and premium on-demand movies. Spacious bathrooms boast new granite countertops for a high-end finish that will make all guests feel right at home.

The lobby, which underwent a major transformation in 2012, features welcome pedestals for a more personal greeting and check-in experience. Flexible seating throughout allows guests to visit with friends or connect to the free wireless Internet access to get some work done. Courtyard's signature GoBoard, a 52-inch interactive touch screen, provides the latest information about local weather and offers driving directions to area restaurants, while the Boarding Pass kiosk allows guests to check their flight statuses and print their boarding passes before checking out.

Hungry visitors will enjoy a meal at The Bistro - Eat. Drink. Connect, a fresh, on-site restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. Favorite dishes include thick-cut french toast, barbeque chicken flatbread sandwiches, turkey BLTs and chicken ciabatta sandwiches. The casual café-style eatery also serves craft and imported beers, cocktails, wine by the glass and Starbucks coffees and teas.

The New Orleans downtown hotel is convenient to the New Orleans Convention Center as well as local attractions. Visitors can do a little shopping on the Riverwalk, catch a race at the Fairgrounds, home of the Louisiana Derby; walk around the famous French Quarter and Bourbon Street, discover wildlife at the Aquarium of the Americas and Audubon Zoo and Park and tour the historic campus of Tulane University.
