New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) Named one of
the Top Five CVBs in the Country

Three prestigious awards from meeting planners and tour operators recognize the city as well as CVB employees for excellence in customer service

NEW ORLEANS - December 26, 2013 - The New Orleans CVB has once again been named one of the top five convention and visitors bureaus in the country by readers of Meetings & Conventions magazine.  NTA's Courier Magazine and Smart Meetings magazine, top resources for meetings industry leaders and tour operators, recognized both the New Orleans CVB for excellence in customer service and the city of New Orleans as a leading destination this year.

Meetings & Conventions and Smart Meetings provide the latest updates on destinations, events and nationwide industry trends, and NTA's Courier Magazine is the most highly sought after resource for tour operators in the country. Readers of these publications directly influence convention, meeting and leisure group business in the city of New Orleans.

  • The New Orleans CVB was named a Gold Service Elite bureau by Meetings & Conventions magazine, certifying the bureau as a top five CVB in the country. Meetings & Conventions recognizes CVBs and DMCs for outstanding service, accommodations, meeting facilities and food and beverage. All Gold Elite award-winners were voted into the top-five bracket by meeting professionals and an audience of magazine subscribers that represents convention customers and associations across the country.
  • The New Orleans CVB was also named a 2013 Platinum Choice Award winner by Smart Meetings magazine. Destination organizations are selected for this coveted award on standards of ambience, breadth of resources, meeting packages, marketing support, and convention facilities. The Smart Meetings editorial team declared winners in conjunction with votes submitted by subscribers. New Orleans is featured among other winning cities in the December 2013 issue of Smart Meetings, reaching an audience of more than 44,000 meetings industry leaders.
  • NTA's Courier Magazine placed New Orleans among its Distinguished Dozen as the "Favorite Destination City" of 2013. The Distinguished Dozen award is one of few distinctions handed out annually during the NTA (National Tour Association) Member's Choice Awards. NTA tour operators will recognize New Orleans in their February 2014 issue.

"Being recognized as one of the top five CVBs in the country is a tremendous honor and is a testament to our employees' standard of excellence and expertise in customer relations," said Stephen Perry, President and CEO of the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau. "These honors would not be possible without the leadership of Executive Vice President Brad Weaber, CMP, Vice President of Tourism Kim Priez, Vice President of Convention Sales and Strategy Cara Banasch, MBA, and their sales teams who showcase the great city of New Orleans to the world every day. These prestigious awards are a vote of confidence from our customers and a sign of good things to come for New Orleans' cultural economy in 2014 and beyond."

Tourism is a $6 billion industry for New Orleans, employing 75,000 people and attracting more than nine million visitors annually. No industry has more impact on the local economy, job creation and quality of life for our residents.

The New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau is a nationally accredited, 1,100-member destination marketing organization and the largest and most successful private economic development corporation in Louisiana. The CVB and its members influence thousands of decision-makers and millions of visitors to choose New Orleans through direct sales, marketing, public relations, branding and visitor services at our New Orleans headquarters and offices in Washington, D.C., Chicago and four foreign countries. Consistently recognized as one of the top five CVBs in the country, the New Orleans CVB celebrated its 53rd anniversary in 2013.
