SEGUENON KONE PRESENTS "WELCOME TO COTE D'IVOIRE LIVE IN NOLA"


New Orleans, LA, April 24, 2014 - Seguenon Kone presents "Welcome to Cote D'Ivoire Live in NOLA."  The events take place May 2 and 3, 2014, at Café Istanbul, 2372 St. Claude Avenue, and May 6, 2014, at NOLA Spaces, 1719 Toledano Street. 

Kone is a master musician, choreographer and dancer from the Ivory Coast.  You can expect breathtaking performing as you'll find him singing, dancing and playing djembe drums and a balafon. Since arriving in the U.S. in 1998, he has conducted workshops in the traditional West African arts of drumming, dance, masking and fire-eating. . He has toured the world with renowned artist Jimmy Buffet, Disney World and the National Ballet of the Ivory Coast.

Now a New Orleans resident, he is the founding member of two local music groups, Ensemble Fatien (a blend of New Orleans jazz and African rhythms) and D'Ivoire Spectacle (a traditional drum and dance troupe).  Kone also serves as an instructor at several schools and programs involving youth and adults.
