The 28th Annual French Market Creole Tomato Festival is June 7 & 8, 2014 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the historic French Market District, from Dumaine to Barracks Street

     The 28th Annual French Market Creole Tomato Festival is June 7 & 8, 2014 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the historic French Market District, from Dumaine to Barracks Street

FEATURING:

  • Abita Beer main music stage at the Flea Market & Abita beer for sale throughout the Fest
  • Cooking demonstrations & tomato-eating contests at the Farmers Market stage
  • Fourteen festival food booths along French Market Place featuring Creole tomato dishes
  • Live music & children's activities in Dutch Alley including indoor entertainment in the Jazz Park
  • Fresh Creole tomatoes for sale & free tomatoes with retail purchases of $30 at French Market District shops

NEW THIS YEAR! 

The Inaugural French Market Summer Harvest Gala pre-festival celebration June 4th 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Plus these new special events during the Fest:  ***PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES**

  • A "RIPE ‘N READY" RALLY AND SECONDLINE will kick off the festival weekend at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 7th , after a public biting into the first fresh Creole tomatoes at the "First Bite of the Fest" on the Abita mainstage.
  • A "BEST OF THE FEST" food booth contest hosted by Southern Food and Beverage Museum will be held Saturday morning June 7th. Judges will select Healthiest, Tastiest, Most Creative, and Best Traditional use of Creole Tomato in a Dish. Announcement of winners will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday June 7th at the Farmers Market stage.
  • CREOLE TOMATO EATING CONTESTS for kids & adults @ 1:00 p.m. at the Farmers Market stage on Sunday June 8th.
