New Year's Eve in New Orleans

As with any other holiday, there's no shortage of ways to count down to the New Year in the Crescent City. Check out these amazing events celebrating the arrival of 2016 and prepare to ring in your New Year NOLA-style!

Crescent City Countdown:
Consistently ranked one of the best fireworks displays in the nation, the Crescent City Countdown is a don't-miss! The fun will begin as live music performances by Luke Winslow King and Cyril Neville's Swamp Funk with special guest Big Chief Monk take to the Decatur Street stage at 9:00 p.m. The official countdown to midnight begins at 11:45 p.m. When the clock strikes midnight, an 8-foot LED fleur de lis will drop from the top of Jax Brewery Condominiums, kicking off a spectacular 15-minute fireworks symphony over the Mississippi River.

This incredible view is open to the public. You can get a great view of the fireworks along the Mississippi River at Washington Artillery Park.

Republic New Orleans Presents A New Year's Revolution featuring The Hood Internet:
If you're looking for an unforgettable, high-energy performance to kick off your New Year, don't miss The Hood Internet's intimate New Year's Eve Show at Republic New Orleans. DXXXY, MUSA and KTRL will open at this high energy electronic dance music performance. Tickets start at $20 and doors open at 9 p.m.

The Joy Theater Presents A Truly Funky Affair: 
This New Year's Eve, Foundation of Funk will return to New Orleans with UK funk-soul quartet The New Mastersounds for ‘A Truly Funky Affair' at the historic Joy Theater on Canal Street, presented by Winter Circle Productions and Joy Productions. The New Mastersounds will be returning to the Joy for their third consecutive New Year's show at the legendary venue. Funk legends Zigaboo Modeliste and George Porter Jr. of the Original Meters will close the show as Foundation of Funk with Eddie Roberts (guitar) and Joe Tatton (keyboards) of The New Mastersounds joining them for what will no doubt be a special performance, paying homage to historic funk foundation laid by Modeliste and Porter.

Doors open at 9 p.m. and tickets start at $50 for general admission.

Big Night New Orleans 2015-2016 Presented by Hyatt Regency:
For one of the biggest New Year's celebrations in the Big Easy, head over to the Big Night New Orleans New Year's Eve Gala at the Hyatt Regency, New Orleans. This all-inclusive events includes performances by Cowboy Mouth, Brass-A-Holics, Flow Tribe, DJ Mike Swift, DJ Digital, Sweet Crude and many more. Featuring burlesque performances, aerial acrobatics, multiple party rooms and dance floors and an all night open bar, the Big Night is the biggest night of the year. So leave your wallet at home and enjoy the food, libations and entertainment at the Hyatt Regency. Guests must be 21 and older to attend. Tickets start at $89.99.

New Orleans New Year Eve's Ball Drop 2016:
Looking to be at the heart of the celebrations without the fuss of crowds? Then snag your tickets to the New Year's Eve Ball Drop at Jackson Brewery Bistro Bar, located in very same Jax Brewery from which the Crescent City Countdown fleur de lis is dropped. This all-inclusive event includes entertainment by acro-contortionists, aerial artists and a private view of the fireworks over the Mississippi River from the Jackson Brewery Bistro Bar balcony. Tickets begin at $85, with doors opening at 9 p.m. 

Celebrate New Year's 2016 at Westin Canal Place:
Ring in 2016 with live music, incredible cuisine and panoramic views of the riverfront fireworks at The Westin New Orleans Canal Place. The Westin New Orleans Canal Place offers breathtaking views of the city's spectacular fireworks display. Enjoy a premium open bar, dance the night away with the Boogie Men, and cheers to the year ahead with a champagne toast at midnight. The party starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are priced at $175 (fees not included).

New Year's Eve at Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse:
Head over to the swanky Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse to enjoy the sounds of the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band as you ring in 2016. Located in the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon Street, the Playhouse is the perfect location to ring in the new year. Enjoy a premium open bar with themed cocktails, hors d'oevres and a champagne toast at midnight. Tickets begin at$150, and the party begins at 8:30 p.m.

New Year's Eve 2016 at The Maison:
If you're more interested in spending the first moments of 2016 on Frenchmen Street than Bourbon Street, catching Hot 8 Brass Band and the New Orleans Suspects at The Maison is the perfect way to ring in the new year. Doors for this open bar event open at 9:00 p.m., and tickets begin at $80. 

Ring in the New Year New Orleans Style at Le Petit Theatre:
Enjoy the sounds of David Torkanowsky and the New Orleans All Stars as you ring in the New Year at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, the oldest community theater in the United States. Don't miss this top talent including Germaine Bazzle, George French, Nicholas Payton, Ricardo Pascal, Lucien Barbarin, and a surprise guest on drums. Presented by Dickie Brennan & Co., tickets start at $35 and doors open at 9:30 p.m.

New Year's Eve at The Irish House:
Ring in the New Year Celtic-style with live music by Crossing Canal at The Irish House, a local favorite Irish pub. Music begins at 7 p.m., with a late night Irish music session at 10 p.m. A champagne toast at midnight will ring in the new year, and the pub will be serving a special three course menu all day. 


For the Kids:

Louisiana Children Museum's Kids' Countdown to 2016:
For a kid-friendly New Year, count down to noon with a confetti toss and balloon release at the Louisiana Children's Museum. Enjoy a live performance by Red Hot Brass Band while you make noisemakers and party hats. Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m., and admission is $5 per person for members and $10 per person for non-members.

Zoo Year's Eve at the Audubon Zoo:
Prepare for a wild New Year's Eve for kids at Audubon Zoo! Enjoy music, games and prizes while counting down to noon on December 31, and enjoy a Pepsi toast to ring in 2015. Don't miss the super heros meet-and-greet featuring Iron Guy, Capt America, Wonder Girl and more. Admission is free for Audubon members or included with zoo admission, and the festivities begin at 10:30 a.m.
