New Orleans Southern Rep, the regions premiere professional theatre, expands its education branch Academy SRT to offer not only classes, but plays for kids and teens to do! Academy SRTs production of original play Enchanted Holiday Celebration will be directed by Academy SRT Instructor Julie Faust.
Rehearsals begin November 30, 2009 with performances December 12 & 13, 2009 on stage at Southern Rep (full schedule below). ACTING ROLES for KIDS Ages 6-12. Children will learn the play process from audition to performance in a professional theatre! Registration Cost: One full need-based scholarship and two 50% off need-based scholarships are available. Deadline to apply for scholarships is November 24th INTERNSHIPS for TEENS Ages 13-18: Leadership opportunities are available for teens interested in working creatively as a team. Interns will have the opportunity to work with theatre professionals and get hands-on experience. Academy SRT is seeking responsible teens in these areas: Assistant Directing, Stage Management, Costumes, Lights, Sound, Scenery & Prop Crafts ENCHANTED HOLIDAY CELEBRATION: When all good children are tucked in bed and the mall closes on Christmas Eve, enchanted window display characters come to life and adventure to City Park for the Celebration in the Oaks! But wait this year winter in New Orleans is just too hot for Jazzy Snowmen Bingo, Bango & Boingo to leave their snow-globe in the mall!
Join Rudy the Red Nose Gator, Crawfish Carolers, Gingerbread Boys, Elves, and Tiny Tim as they leave no candy cane unturned in attempt to get their snow friends safely to the celebration without melting! Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to ensure placement.
