The best of Louisiana will be on display this Saturday at the New Orleans Museum of Art, where visitors can meet the state's most famous artist, George Rodrigue, as well as support its favorite Conference Championship-bound basketball team, the New Orleans Hornets. The joint Cajun Day and Hornets Day will feature two book signings by Rodrigue, whose 40-year retrospective Rodrigue's Louisiana: Cajuns, Blue Dogs, and Beyond Katrina, is in its final weeks. Also, New Orleans Hornets mascot Hugo and the Honeybees dancers will be on hand for free photos and autographs. Bruce Daigrepont, the Cajun music legend famous for his regular Sunday night Fais Do Do at Tipitina's, and his band will entertain in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, preceded by free Cajun dance lessons. This family-friendly afternoon at the Museum also willfeature free Cajun storytelling by Mary LeCompte, reading The Tale of the Loup-Garou at noon, and free art activities, including stations for kids to create free Blue Dog masks and Blue Dog balloon animals. Even Mr. Snowball will be here to make sure everyone keeps cool.

Styles of art include Painting, Photography, Ceramics, Glass, Jewelry, Wood, and Printmaking, plus handmade clothing, soap, candles, and other delights. Between 50 and 100 artists display and sell their wares each month. The Arts Market also features live entertainment, food and beverage booths, and a children's activities area.

This year marks the 32nd anniversary of this joyous event at Oak Alley. Celebrate the Christmas Season in one of the southland's most beautiful settings. The mansion will be dressed in fresh fruit, greenery and seasonal floral arrangements, reminiscent of Creole Christmases past. Delicious Cajun/Creole buffet, open bar, lively dance band, and plenty of good cheer combine to heighten the holiday spirit throughout the famous alley of oaks and the lovely antebellum mansion. As you arrive and walk the illuminated path to the back of the mansion, you will be greeted by tour guides in antebellum dresses. On the terrace, a brass quintet welcomes arriving guests. As you enter the terrace of the Big House our professionally dressed catering staff will be serving hors d'oeuvres on silver trays. Food stations and open premium bars are set in and around the mansion. This event is held in an open house format with a main buffet set in the formal dining room and chef style stations set around the veranda. Tables and chairs are set on and around the terrace located in front of the mansion.
