Windsor Court Hotel in downtown New Orleans is offering visitors and locals a chance to ring in 2010 in style with special live entertainment, food and a fantastic view of fireworks over the Mississippi River. Windsor Court’s The Grill Room Restaurant is offering a special Prix Fixe dinner menu for New Year’s Eve, featuring such choices as Crispy Snake River Farm Pork Belly, Grill Alaskan King Crab Salad, Lobster Bisque, Sautéed Local Red Fish and Grilled Filet of Angus Beef.
 
There will be six seatings for the dinner, with early seatings at 5:30, 6 and 6:30 p.m. and late seatings at 8, 8:30 and 9 p.m. The price for early seatings is $79 per person and the late seatings are $150 per person. Late seatings include a special trip to La Chinoiserie Ballroom on the 23rd Floor of the hotel, where guests will be treated to a tremendous view of the fireworks display over the Mississippi, as well as a special dessert buffet and live music by The Westend Band. Dinner seating prices include validated valet parking. The Polo Club Lounge will begin serving cocktails beginning at 11:30 a.m. on New Year’s Eve and there will be live music starting at 5 with Zaza on piano, followed by Michael Pellera and his quartet beginning at 9 p.m. Le Salon in the Windsor Court lobby will hold Classic and Royal Tea Services at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

New Orleans JAMFEST'10 has joined forces with Loyola University Jazz Department’s Jazz Ensemble Festival to create a culturally rich and educationally outstanding performance opportunity from Thurday March 4 to Saturday, March 6, 2010. There will be a registration fee for this event.
 
New Orleans JAMFEST’10 organizers value the importance of music and the arts as part of a complete education. At JAMFEST’09 students will walk in the footsteps of the giants of Jazz while discovering New Orleans, the city of its birth. Our goal is to provide the optimum experience for all performers and directors through cultural immersion and the wonder of learning through cooperation with Loyola Jazz Ensemble Festival, which is in its 40th year. All performances both competitive and non-competitive will be held at beautiful historic Loyola University.
 
The Festival is open to big bands or Jazz combos from elementary through junior college level. Master classes will be held for all instruments on Thursday, March, 4th and Friday,5th, and will be taught by our guest artist, bassist and composer Rufus Reid and the Loyola jazz faculty. A panel of expert musician/educators will adjudicate and provide clinics immediately following each performance.

The Louisiana Crawfish Festival is located in Beautiful and Historical St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana which is rich with heritage, moss covered oak trees, creole tomatoes, Louisiana Bayous, shrimp boats, oyster luggers, oil refineries, fisherman’s haven and the home of the Battle of New Orleans site over-looking the Mighty Mississippi River. The festival originated in 1975 and has grown to become a Louisiana tradition. Patrons frequent the festival annually from all areas of the United States . They arrive by auto, air, bus and train to come in for the spring event that features authentic Cajun cuisine. Boiled Crawfish with all the “fixins” & Crawfish Dishes such as Crawfish Bread, Crawfish Pasta, Crawfish Pies, Crawfish Rice, and Crawfish Jambalaya adorn the limelight while many other food booths tickle just about everyone’s pallet. Cajun entertainment and current hit parade bands explode on stage to draw crowds to the sounds and glitter of showmanship. The entertainment committee assures that everyone attending will at some point enjoy the performances.
 

Thursdays and Fridays entice the listeners to prepare for the weekend filled musical finale on Sunday night. Arts and crafts lure hundreds to see real hand crafted products. Cups, plates, belts, straw hats, sun glasses, tennis visors, personalized home crafts, license plates and key chains are jus a few of the treasured values offered. There’s always a giant midway with carnival games, cotton candy, candied apples and rides to thrill the toddler through the roughneck and even the Ferris wheel for Maw Maw and Pawpaw.
 
The awesome clinking on the tracks, the air brakes, the laughter amid the flashing lights with noisy horns and squealing sirens draw thousands to conquer their inhibitions. The weekend of festivities boasts proudly of its ability to reunite families, attract family reunions, spark new relationships and spread joy throughout the entire atmosphere. Balloons, toy animals, tee shirts, aprons, ball caps, and other memorabilia flood the festival with mementos to remind us that the next crawfish festival is in the horizon.

The Plaquemines Parish Seafood Festival is celebrating its Sixth Anniversary on Memorial Day weekend! The Park is adjacent to the rear gate of the Naval Air Station-Joint Reserve Base. Commemorate French Independence Day with French-themed food and activities.
