This year, the weekend after Halloween, music lovers will meet at City Park to join in on one of the biggest festivals this city has to offer - Voodoo Music + Art Experience, November 1-3 at City Park.
The festival, which began in 1999, has grown tremendously, rivaling even Jazz Fest for attendance and big-name entertainment. As indicated in the title, this festival is an experience. It not only offers a wide variety of music on two main stages and several smaller stages, but it also offers vendors with everything from clothing to jewelry to visual art for sale.
This year's line-up includes well-known bands such as Perl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Kid Rockm Calvin Harris, Mat & Kim, and local favorites such as John Michael Rouchell, Royal Teeth, Sports & Leisure and The Breton Sound.
Art is taking a more prominent role at this year's festival. Installations both large and small, along with art for sale, will be at the fest for all to enjoy. A major addition to this year's festival is the on-site camping now offered to festival-goers. There are two options available: Crossroads Camping (bring in your own tent that fits onto a 12×12 space) or Loa Grand (VIP camping with a pre-built safari tent and two artist credentials included).
This festival is a favorite among locals and visitors. With the dates set near Halloween, many festival-goers show up to the festival in their costumes, but in a city like New Orleans, no one needs a reason to wear festive attire!
