Friends of the Cabildo celebrate the opening of the Louisiana State Museum's newest exhibit The Palm, the Pine, and the Cypress: Newcomb Pottery of New Orleans. Saturday will include a full day of Newcomb with appraisals by Antique Road Show's David Rago and New Orleans art dealer Jean Bragg, tours of the exhibit by LA State Museum Curator, Katie Burlison, and pottery demonstrations by Derby Pottery of New Orleans. New Orleans artist Marina Reed will be hosting painting demonstrations and authors Susan Tucker and Beth Willinger, Newcomb College, 1886-2006: Higher Education for Women in New Orleans, will host a lecture at 3:00 p.m. Rago will round out the day with a Question and Answer session at 4:00 p.m. Guests that would like to go in depth with David Rago can attend a three course lunch at Antoine's Restaurant.
