Streetcars shaped the historical development patterns of New Orleans and are now shaping our future. The Regional Transit Authority will soon complete the Loyola Streetcar, connecting the Union Passenger Terminal with Canal Street. A recent study conducted by the Merritt C. Becker Jr. Transportation Institute at the University of New Orleans (UNOTI) found $2.7 billion in potential real estate investment along this new corridor.
Join us for a panel on this topic on Tuesday, November 13. The keynote speaker for this panel will be Marilee Utter, Executive Vice President at the Urban Land Institute, who is a national expert on transit oriented development and public-private partnerships. She will address how the real estate market can continue to capitalize on streetcar investments. Ms. Utter will be joined by a panel of locals including Downtown Development District President & CEO Kurt Weigle, and Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer. Associate Professor John L. Renne, Director of UNOTI and Founder of The TOD Group will moderate the panel.
