In an effort to attract more public school kids to their programs and activities, New Orleans Youth Tennis plans to invite kids from as many public schools as possible, especially the ones in proximity to City Park, to its 5th Annual Family Fun Fest & Picnic on the tennis courts in City Park. The event on Saturday, November 17, 2012 will give the families of young players a chance to join in the fun they have every Saturday morning. Mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, will be able to participate in the festivities. As with every Saturday session, the event is open to the public, and free to all who show up.
At this year's event families can bring their own favorite food and drink, or enjoy the food being provided by Fellini's Café, Café Minh, & Martin's Wine Cellar, and join in on the fun the kids will be having on and off the tennis court. The great fun metro kids have on Saturdays at the free tennis sessions is legendary. Now even grandma and grandpa can come out for the festivities. The day will begin with the usual instruction session from 8 to 11 a.m. Then, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., festivities begin. Prizes and giveaways, food and refreshments, including pizza, and face-painting by Elizabeth, will make the event enjoyable for all who attend, whether they choose to play or not.
Businesses and organizations are encouraged to support our Adopt-A-Junior Program that provides a free membership to City Park Junior Tennis Club to deserving and needy kids.
