Founded in 1977 on the West Bank, King Arthur now parades on New Orleans' Uptown route.
The Krewe of King Arthur's 450+ members are best known for their afternoon parade on the first Sunday of Mardi Gras, commonly known as "Family Sunday". This Krewe celebrates with dozens of marching units (floats, bands, etc.), which make up the King Arthur procession. They make their own floats and costumes by hand.
King Arthur labels themselves as New Orleans’ friendliest Krewe. They have been and will always be open to all races and sexes.
Their parade will be Sunday, January 27, 2013. This is a week earlier than usual due to the Super Bowl.
