Come hear Ashé Cultural Arts Center's Healing Force All-Stars, hosted by Michaela Harrison, in the intimate setting of Café Istanbul. Hitting the stage will be Carol Bebelle, Cfreedom, Lloyd Daly, Luther Gray, Michaela Harrison, Morikeba Kouyate, Lucky Lou, Monica McIntyre, and more. Last year, a group of talented musicians got together and produced a CD that will touch generations. The Healing Force is the latest release from the Ashé Cultural Arts Center. The theme running through this amazing compilation focuses on the healing power of music and dance in New Orleans and its impact globally. It touches on jazz, gospel, hip-hop, spoken word, world music and healing incantations. The all-star lineup is anchored by three New Orleans musical legends: Sir Edward Kidd Jordan, Germaine Bazzle and Rev. Lois Dejean & the Johnson Extension. Lucky Lou and Cfreedom represent the next wave in New Orleans bounce and conscious hip-hop. Michaela Harrison and Monica McIntyre are soulful solo female vocalists who cross genres in their musical stylings. Bamboula 2000, the Congo Square Preservation Society and Kora Konnection featuring Morikeba Kouyate provide the link from Africa to New Orleans' Congo Square. Internationally renowned Hamid Drake's drums weave a healing tapestry throughout the CD. And two of the giants in New Orleans Cultural Renaissance, Kalamu ya Salaam and Carol Bebelle, provide the powerful spoken word punctuation to this ground breaking tour de force that is THE HEALING FORCE!
THE HEALING FORCE CD can be purchased at Ashé Cultural Arts Center or online at : http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/asheculturalartscenter#.UP_g3i1-uBE.gmail. For more information, call (504) 569-9070.
