Bonnie Raitt's Slipstream Tour 2013 is making a stop at the Saenger Theatre on Saturday, December 7th. The evening will include an opening set by special guest Paul Brady.
More than just a best-selling artist, respected guitarist, expressive singer and accomplished songwriter, Bonnie Raitt has become an institution in American music. Bonnie Raitt started anew with the release of her nineteenth album, "Slipstream". The album marked her return to studio recording after seven years and the launch of own her label, Redwing Records.
A huge success, "Slipstream" sold over a quarter-million copies in 2012, making it one of the top-selling independent albums and earned Raitt her 10th GRAMMY Award (Best Americana Album). From the New York Times to People Magazine, "Slipstream" was also lauded in numerous top critics' lists for album of the year. "Slipstream" delivers some of the most surprising rewarding music of Raitt's remarkable career, thanks in part to 4 songs recorded with celebrated producer Joe Henry and his musicians. The rest of the album was self-produced with her touring band.
Raitt says she is thrilled with the resulting eclectic mix of blues, rock and soul that even includes a dash of raggae and Celtic Sounds. She covers a couple of Bob Dylan's best as well as other well knowns'. "It's just a new batch of great songs" Raitt said.
Since beginning her North American concert tour, Raitt made several national TV appearances (Ellen, Leno, Letterman, GMA, Fallon and more), performed at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors and received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance from the Americana Music Association.
