The New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA), in partnership with St. Jerome Catholic Church and supported by Compliance Technology Group, announces the addition of Folkloric Dance Workshops to its annual offering of over 5,000 tuition-free community dance classes. Taught by local instructor Belinda Avila on the first available Saturday of each month during the winter/spring session, the workshops feature a fun blend of Honduran and Mexican dance, as well as storytelling, that is perfect for the entire family’s participation.

Since 2007, NOBA and St. Jerome Catholic Church have partnered to provide opportunities for youth in Kenner, including a variety of ballet technique classes. In addition to this programming, the monthly Folkloric Dance Workshops, which are open to everyone ages 6 and up, feature Honduran and Mexican dance, and encompass other lively forms like salsa, hip-hop and tap. The classes will also incorporate stories and authentic costumes that explain the dances’ historical context. The workshops are filled on a first come, first served basis and are fun for the whole family; enrollment forms are available at the door.
