The Historic New Orleans Collection's spring Concerts in the Courtyard series continues, with Latin band Viváz. This month's event is presented in conjunction with the release of THNOC's latest book "Creole World: Photographs of New Orleans and the Latin Caribbean Sphere."
Viváz-which combines Latin music, jazz elements and Brazilian and Caribbean sounds with roots of Flamenco flair-comprises musicians from Latin American and the U.S. Formed in New Orleans in 2001, Viváz is centered upon a nimble nylon-string guitar, a double three-stringed Cuban guitar (called a "tres") and accomplished vocals, all led by founder, leader and Bolivia-native Javier Gutierrez. Donald Jarquin (conga and vocals), Rik Fletcher (piano), Abdel Jarquin (cajon, percussion and vocals) and Tommy Sciple (upright bass) will also perform.
