Art collective New Orleans Airlift opens their flagship project The Music Box Village to the public as a permanent installation of musical architecture in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans. This locally loved and internationally celebrated project that has been roaming the city and beyond since 2011, has now found a home in a magical downtown forest! The ever-evolving musical village will grow for years to come, employing collaborative imagination and ingenuity to create new interactive, playable structures with the help of artists, architects, inventors and builders. Founded by Delaney Martin, Swoon, Taylor Shepherd and Jay Pennington, The Music Box has over 80 worldwide artistic collaborators to date, with over 300 musicians performing among its “musical houses”, including Thurston Moore, Wilco, Solange Knowles, Mannie Fresh, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Arto Lindsay and Andrew W.K. to name just a few. DEBUT WEEKEND PUBLIC HOURS: Friday, October 28th to Sunday, October 30th: 12-6pm Come play! Surprise pop-up performances and hands-on exploration time for all ages.
