Join us for author and WYES-TV producer Peggy Scott Laborde for a presentation and she will sign copies of her new book, "The Fair Grounds through the Lens: Photographs and Memories of Horse Racing in New Orleans" (Pelican, 2016).
The thunder and excitement of the race has long drawn visitors to the Fair Grounds, where legendary horses have raced to victory. Laborde chronicles the history of one of America's oldest thoroughbred horseracing tracks through modern and historic images, highlights of past events and races and traditions and memories of the Fair Grounds. A signing will immediately follow the presentation. Copies of the book will be available at The Shop at The Collection for $34.95.
Laborde is the longtime senior producer for WYES-TV, where she has developed, produced and hosted documentaries and in-studio productions about New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. She is the co-author of several books on the city's culture including "Canal Street: New Orleans' Great Wide Way" (Pelican, 2006) and "Christmas in New Orleans" (Pelican, 2009).
The event is free, but reservations are encouraged.
