All choirs are vocally directed by Mary Lou with accompanist Garrett Fried. Come join us at The Museum of Art Opening Reception for the William Woodward Exhibition. Drawing from the holdings of both institutions, the exhibition features more than 70 paintings, etchings, sculpture and ephemera related to Woodward's life and works. A native of Massachusetts, Woodward came to New Orleans in the 1880s to teach fine arts, mechanical drawing and architectural drawing at Tulane University.

Woodward was involved with every facet of architecture in New Orleans, consulting on the design of Tulane's new building for architecture classes. He also designed and built his own home in Uptown New Orleans. His interest in architecture evolved into a passionate commitment to preservation. The first artist to focus intensely on the Vieux Carré, Woodward documented the Quarter's rich cultural heritage in vignettes of daily life-women at market, street cleaners, deliverymen and milkmaids driving drayage carts and residents engaged in their daily activities.

Woodward's depictions of French Quarter buildings focused public attention on the heedless destruction of historic properties. The exhibition offers an opportunity to view a large selection of Woodward's renderings of the French Quarter and to judge the strength of his artistic contribution.

Hutton has been seen as the leading man on stages throughout the Big Easy including Tulane Summer Lyric, Le Petit Theatre and on the JPAS stages. This is the first role where he has worn three-inch high-heels and a bustier! Dr. Frank 'N Furter's motley crew of characters from another dimension include an array of the best New Orleans local talent. Lara Grice, one of New Orlean's most talented and versatile leading ladies, plays the outrageous Columbia. Grice has graced most all of the stages in the New Orleans area portraying roles ranging from the ditzy Norma in VICTOR/VICORIA to Jaque in Shakespear's AS YOU LIKE IT. She is often seen in local and national TV commercials.

Chris Wecklein joins the cast of ROCKY as Riff Raff, the shifty hunch-backed "butler." Wecklein has also been seen on most stages throughout the New Orleans area and notable in the long-running production of BLACK AND WHITE BLUES at Le Chat Noir. This power-house cast features several other local theatre stars including Marlene Thian as Magenta, Matias Grau, III as Brad and Lucy Faust as Janet, Armando L. Leduc as Eddie and Brandon Sutton as Rocky.

The cast also features Daniel Deshazo, Samantha Gregory, Michael Indest, Diana Macera, Helen Jane Planchet, Colleen Robinson and Matt Standley. Playwright Doug Wright spent ten years interviewing Charlotte and developing this play. For Charlotte collected antiques from abandoned or bombed houses, enough to turn her East Berlin home into a museum, and transform the basement into a salon and haven for gay artists and intellectuals struggling to survive under the repressive regime.

She received the Medal of Honor from the reunified German government for preserving antiques and culture. But before her life was over, all of her life story would be called into question. Yet this is not a story about being gay, not a story about being a cross-dresser and not a story about cold war politics. It is a story about survival and one astounding person. The New Orleans Botanical Garden display new varieties of annual plants for All American Selections, national seed companies as well as our own in house trials of plants that have not been tried in our gardens. We also have a display of many varieties of Salvias from the Herb Society of America. There will be a presentation of what trial and display gardens are and how they impact the consumer. There will be a tour of these gardens looking at new varieties of petunias that will be released in 2010!

Susan Capley has a BS degree in Plant and Soil Science with the emphasis in Horticulture Enterprise Management from the University of Kentucky. She was the horticulturist at the University of Kentucky State Botanical Garden. She has also worked in landscape maintenance, organic vegetable production, greenhouse production, and a floral designer for out door display gardens and indoor floral.
