Even Better- Ten Years Later

(Come back daily for a new video.)

Thank you – 10 years post-Katrina

When Hurricane Katrina battered New Orleans and the Gulf Coast ten years ago at about this time, we knew within a few hours, as faulty levees failed, that our world would never be the same. We asked ourselves whether the incomprehensible tragedy playing out before our eyes would deal a fatal blow to this somewhat fragile, authentic, quirky place. The answer that emerged over the days that followed was a resounding no……instead; Katrina would become a catalyst for reinvention and rebirth.

So as we look back at what happened here 10 years ago, we want to give thanks to all of you who took us in when we had no place to go, helped us tell our story when we had no voice, helped us rebuild our homes and our city from ruin, celebrated our victories, showcased to the world what makes our city so special, and those of you who simply came to be our guests as we put the pieces back together.

Leading up to the 10th anniversary of Katrina, we are showcasing some of the improved aspects of New Orleans. It’s hard to imagine how far we’ve come in just ten years. As the video vignettes below attest, we prefer to dwell on our present condition and our future vs. looking back. We are grateful for your support which has carried us this far. We thank you sincerely for all that you have done to help us get here. We hope you will come visit us again soon so we can say thank you in person.
