The Louisiana Children's Museum (LCM) has taken their endless opportunities to explore, experience and learn outside to their new home in New Orleans City Park. 

This brand new campus features 8.5 acres of interactive programming and exhibits, themed activity and education centers, ample outdoor space, and a number of unique and local touches. 

During your next visit to LCM, you can expect: 

The Lagoon Building

 Houses LCM's public offerings such as the toy and book store, the parent-teacher resource center and literacy center, as well as Dickie Brennan's Acorn, the waterfront cafea that features wholesome kid-friendly fare, and dishes that are sure to excite adult palates as well. 

The Play Building

Exhibits

Here you will find LCM's five interactive, educational exhibit galleries. Their areas of focus are literacy, health and wellness, environmental education, and arts and culture. 

Play With Me

A ground-floor space dedicated to families with infants and toddlers under the age of four. The Play With Me exhibit features the following:

  • Cypress Tree Book Nook
  • Peek-a-Boo Puppet Theater
  • Early Literacy Sensory Wall
  • Discovery Zone 

Follow That Food

One of the largest LCM galleries, Follow That Food is an immersive experience for little ones that will take them on a playful journey of Louisiana agriculture and food. Beginning with fields and coastal waters, passing through the international port, stopping in markets, cafes and restaurants, the journey finally ends at the family table. Children can experience this journey with:

  • Scents + Scales
  • E.A.D. Wall 

Dig Into Nature

In this exhibit, children are invited to discover the abundant and unique natural resources in Louisiana and throughout the Gulf Coast. This space will highlight these assets, as well as the region's ecosystems, plants and animals. This exhibit will include: 

  • Nature Caring Station
  • Energy, Exploration + Innovation
  • Wetlands Sedimentation Table
  • Storytelling Nest
  • Nature Sharing Station
  • Cajun Pirogue + Buzzin' on the Bayou
  • Promise Tree Portal 

Make Your Mark

Celebrate New Orleans' rich heritage, history, arts, architectural, music and more in the Make Your Mark exhibit. Not only will children be introduced to New Orleans' great contributors, but they'll also be asked to make their own marks with original creations and crafts. Featured activities in the Make Your Mark exhibit include: 

  • Studio in the Park
  • Jammin' House
  • Jackson Square
  • NOLA Urban Design House
  • Book Nook + Light Tables
  • Shotgun House 

Move With the River

Described as an "action-packed, watery world,"Move With the River teaches children the story of the Mighty Mississippi River. From Lake Itasca, MN, through the Port of New Orleans, and all the way to the Gulf of Mexico, the journey explores water as a resource. Keep an eye out for these special activities: 

  • Mighty Mississippi
  • In Dialogue Program Space
  • Rocks + Springs Tot Spot
  • Water Wall
  • Cargo + Destinations
