Carlos Miguel Prieto and the musicians of the LPO have a wonderful season planned for 2007-2008, promising many opportunities to continue to enjoy inspiring, soothing, energizing, elevating, illuminating, live music. Built around themes of home and identity, spirituality and revival – with a little humor thrown into the mix – the 17th season will feature artistic talent ranging from Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg to two Philippes: both Entremont and Quint. The much requested Saint-Saëns’ “Organ Symphony” will be played in the fall on the magnificent pipe organ at First Baptist New Orleans, and Mahler’s huge “Resurrection Symphony” will complete the spring program. In the midst of all this, we will celebrate Festa d’Italia to build on the fun, musical energy of the sixteenth season’s Fiesta Sinfonica. Our subscribers will also receive a bonus concert in January featuring the winner of the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans International Piano Competition. |
