Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport 
Saturday, September 6, 8:00 a.m. --- The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is operational, and flights resumed yesterday, just with a slightly reduced schedule. The airport should be at full capacity very soon.  

Passengers should note that there will be limited food and beverage service in the terminal, as airport employees return home. Concession sales will be limited as well, but should resume full operations within a matter of days.

Information regarding the evacuation and process and closing of the airport in advance of Gustav:

With regard to the process of evacuating visitors and residents, on Sunday, all passengers scheduled on regular passenger flights were accommodated easily by their airlines and departed Armstrong International on the last scheduled flights. All flights out went smoothly and we are appreciative of all airlines that added extra flights and brought in larger equipment to ensure that all of their and our customers had an easy movement out of the city.

The City provided special additional shuttle busses to assist all visitors in moving to the airport on Saturday and Sunday to supplement local taxi and shuttle services. The movement of air passengers to the airport went exceptionally well and made leaving much easier for all of our visitors.

At this time there is no timetable for the resumption of air service at Armstrong International. That information will be released to the media and posted on the airport’s web site at www.flymsy.com when it comes available.
