NOMCVB Mission Statement
The New Orleans CVB's mission is to generate dynamic economic impact for New Orleans by marketing the city as the premier destination in America for conventions, meetings, sports events, cultural events, leisure travel, multicultural tourism, entertainment, art, history and architecture.

A History of the NOMCVB –

As the City of New Orleans expands and reinvents itself, so does its economy and industry. Originally, a part of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, the city leaders recognized the need for the Greater New Orleans Tourist and Convention Commission, Inc., to have its own space and staff in order to focus on selling, marketing and promoting New Orleans as a convention and leisure destination.

So in 1963, the Tourist Commission separated from the Chamber and became its own entity and relocated to the Wildlife and Fisheries Building at 418 Royal Street.  Industry flourished and maintained its expansion; thus, a relatively larger location was needed to house each department.  The new site became the Louisiana Superdome, which soon became an insufficient space to contain all of the departments.  In fact, due to the size of the staff, one department was headquartered in another building.

The New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau moved to its first permanent residence located at 2020 St. Charles Ave in the summer of 2003.

The building houses the NOMCVB Visitors Center along with industry partners: the New Orleans Multicultural Tourism Network, the Lieutenant Governor’s New Orleans office, the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and the Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association, further establishing 2020 St. Charles Avenue as the New Orleans Tourism Headquarters.
