New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau Statement Regarding Topical Storm Ida: Business As Usual
Monday, November 9, 2009, 9:30 a.m.
The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau has been monitoring Tropical Storm Ida in partnership with city and state officials. It is business as usual for the New Orleans tourism industry.
While the Governor declared a state of emergency out of an abundance of caution for extreme low-lying coastal parishes of the state, forecasters predict rain and wind in New Orleans today, but they do not anticipate anything more than a normal Louisiana tropical rain system.
Current forecasts expect Ida to make landfall along the Florida panhandle on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
The Louis Armstrong International Airport is open. Passengers may wish to check with their individual airline for possible flight delays or cancellations, particularly for late tonight or early Tuesday morning.
The New Orleans forecast calls for less than 10 percent precipitation on Wednesday, followed by sunny skies, with low temperatures in the 50s and highs in the 70s for the rest of this week.
