Many an author found fertile literary ground in New Orleans

From Faulkner whose house is now a bookstore, to Mark Twain and many, many more, New Orleans inspires

There were plenty of people who found their muse along the Mississippi. In 1879 Victorian author Lafcadio Hearn wrote to a friend: “It is better to be here in sackcloth and ashes than to own the whole state of Ohio.” Tennessee Williams, Charles Bukowski and John Kennedy Toole might agree. Also F. Scott Fitzgerald, Lillian Hellman and Eudora Welty. Great scribes have walked the French Quarter’s narrow streets and whiled away hours in watering holes in search of inspiration.
