New Orleans Goes Bowling

As the rest of the country prepares for the holidays and rings in the New Year, New Orleans and football teams from across the nation gear up for Bowl Season. These games will be a great warm-up for Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans. Football fans that flock to the city agree that New Orleans sets the perfect backdrop for some of the top ranked teams in the country to battle it out on the field. Whether your team wins or loses, you know we will have a drink waiting for you to either toast to a victory or drown away your sorrows.

On December 22, 2012 the New Orleans' bowl game season will begin at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Last year, UL Ragin‘ Cajuns quarterback Blaine Gautier threw for a record 470 yards and kicker Brett Baer drilled a 50-yard field goal as time expired and the Ragin' Cajuns rallied from behind to defeat San Diego State, 32-30.  The Ragin' Cajuns have just accepted an invitation to compete in the bowl again this year, becoming the second team in the bowl's history to compete in back-to-back years. In addition to the game, festivities will include the Friday Night Free-for-Alland the Pre-Game Fan Fest where guests enjoyed live music andentertainment.

79th Annual Allstate® Sugar Bowl
A staple in the New Orleans' line-up of leisure events, the Allstate Sugar Bowl is back for the big game on January 2, 2013. As part of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS), this game is the pinnacle of postseason collegefootball. In addition to the game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Allstate®hosts the Sugar Bowl Fan Fest December 31 and January 1, located in the Jax Brewery parking lots off Decatur Street in the French Quarter. Last year's headliners included Cee-Lo Green, Kelly Clarkson, the Neville Brothers and New Orleans-own Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Fans can attempt a regulation size field goal kick, participate in a football combine course, receive a free t-shirt and a chance to win an Allstate® Sugar Bowl Fan Pack. Two winners will compete head to head in the Allstate :60 Seconds of Mayhem kick contest to win a car, boat, motorcycle and travel trailer.
